I am excited to be a part of this team! As a Fayetteville native who grew up as military child in Germany as well as Ft. Bragg,  I have had many roles related to the military community. After graduating from NC State, I was commissioned in the Air Force and taught in the Air Force Academy before retiring.  I’m a military spouse who has seen his airman deploy to serve in Afghanistan. I’m also the father of two students who experienced the unpredictability of the military life.  As a JROTC instructor for Cumberland County Schools, I have worked with many military children and parents over the years. With over 20 years in education, it is my hope to use my experiences to help even more families as a Military Student Transition Consultant (MSTC).

I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with this group of Military Student Transition Consultants.  I am a Veteran of the US Air Force Reserves, having served eight years with two deployment experiences.  I am a graduate of Fayetteville State University and have lived in the Fayetteville/Fort Bragg area for the last 10 years.  Teaching Criminal Justice within Cumberland County Schools redirected my life to the service of youth.  After teaching two years I moved into a position within the non-profit sector focused on providing supplemental support to school-aged children.  This new opportunity with the Military Child Education Coalition bridges my love for supporting children and my love of the United States Military.  I look forward to serving this community, our military students and their families while continuing to embody the “service before self” core value of the US Air Force.

I am thrilled to be a Military Student Transition Consultant (MSTC) for the Military Child Education Coalition in Cumberland County Schools. My position is unique because I am embedded in the Cumberland County School district able to serve the needs of military connected students, parents and staff daily. I am a professional educator dedicated to supporting military connected student transitions in and out of the school district while ensuring ongoing care throughout the entire year.

As an expert navigator, I work directly with students, families, and staff to decrease turbulence and increase resiliency in students to overcome the unique challenges they face and meet their academic goals. The purpose of my work as an MSTC is accomplished by addressing challenges, facilitating connections to school, installation, and community resources and educating others on the unique needs of military connected students. I will coordinate and direct communication between parents, the school district, the installation and the community.

My training is in school counseling, I have had the opportunity to consult and collaborate with parents, students and stakeholders in regards for fostering a safe and caring environment, empowering students to graduate college and career ready.

Greetings, I am originally from Jacksonville Florida and came to Fayetteville North Carolina by way of the military. I have been in the Fayetteville/ Fort Bragg area for over 20 years. During my time in the Army I had the opportunity to serve not only at Fort Bragg but also in South Korea and Germany. I have also served in multiple deployments. After my tour of duties, I retired from the United States Army.

I have had the opportunity to serve the Fayetteville Community during and after my time in the military. I was able to serve the community as a coach, mentor, and educator. I also attended college with in this community at Fayetteville State University. During this time, I was able to obtain my Bachelors of Business Administration and a Masters in Social Work / Child and Family. I look forward to serving the children and parents of this great community once again.
